Greening Grace
RECENT NEWS. Please click on this link to discover how Greening Grace participated in Earth Hour along with other communities and churches all over the world.
Members of the Greening Grace group seek to inspire, educate, and encourage each other – and the Grace Church community as a whole – to move toward environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
In its efforts to steward our beautiful but fragile earth, Greening Grace has initiated and participated in a variety of events and activities, including, for example:
- Organizing celebrations of Earth Day/Creation Sunday;
- Offering Low Carbon Diet workshops to help parishioners learn how to reduce their consumption of fossil fuels;
- Presenting displays of consumer products made of recycled materials;
- Providing monthly Eco-Tips;
- Participating in national events such as Step It Up, Focus the Nation, National Teach-In on Global Warming, and 350.org, and hosting the Interfaith Walk for Climate Rescue;
- Participating in the St. Nicholas Bazaar by selling eye-catching light switch plates, reusable wrap bags, draft dodgers (to block cold air at doors and windows), birdhouses, and other eco-friendly items;
- Arranging for energy audits of the church buildings;
- Maintaining an environmental bulletin board.
This is just a short selection of our activities. New members are always welcome.
