Announcements 6/23/24

Fourth Sunday Collection, June 23  The June recipient will be Episcopal Relief and Development’s Ukraine Crisis Response Fund. Episcopal Relief & Development (ERD) is working together with its partners to serve refugees impacted by the war in Ukraine, providing support both within Ukraine and throughout Europe. Since the onset of the war in 2022, millions of war refugees have entered Europe and have overwhelmed the support systems, which has made successful integration even more difficult for all refugees. ERD helps immigrants to integrate into their new lives throughout Europe by offering language classes, legal and work assistance, and helping with food and basic needs. Within Ukraine, ERD is working to help people who have fled the violence with shelter, food, water and counseling services. If you write a check, please make it payable to Grace Church and add “outreach” on the memo line. Thank you for any gift you are able to give.

Joy of Living Group, 7:00-8:30 p.m., 2nd and 4th Mondays  This group combines meditation, practices integrated in the flow of life, and discussion. Next meeting, in the Connector: June 24, 2024

The ClimateAction@Grace Committee has set up a poster of a tree in the back of the church near the bell tower. Please add leaves to the tree to show things you are doing now to help care for creation.

Haiti Ministry: School uniforms  Good news! Donations have reached a total of $3000! That’s enough to support 40 students. Another 210 will still need school clothes and supplies. The students and staff at St. Matthieu have persevered through great adversity. Let’s do what we can to help. $75 outfits one student; any amount is welcome. To donate, please see us at coffee hour, send a check, or use the church website. For details and more stories, see org.

Greening Grace  What can we do as individuals to reduce our carbon footprint? We’ll be posting two ideas a week for the summer. Here are a few ideas from Greening Grace.

  • Buy delicious local food and save on travel pollution, too.
  • Carpool whenever you can – it’s more fun, too!

Climate Action Talk, July 14, 10:45 am in the Parish Hall  Climate Action @ Grace is excited about presenting Mireille Bajjani, the leader of “Fix-The-Grid”.  She is part of the cadre of young adults who are figuring out ways to be effective climate activists. We are looking forward to learning what she has to teach us about her cutting edge work addressing the need to remove fossil fuel from the electric grid and replace it with sustainable non-fossil fuel. Don’t miss what promises to be a powerful educational presentation showing us how we can be powerful agents for positive change during this climate crisis. Any questions, please contact Charlie Tebbetts.
